Hello again, running enthusiasts and curious readers!
We’ve made it to week 2 of my half marathon training journey, and of course I have some updates to share! With another week ticked off, I’m feeling stronger, faster, and even more excited about what lies ahead.
The Pace of Progress: Goal Race Repeats
The week began with some vigorous ‘Goal Race Repeats’. If you recall from last week, these are 800m sprints meant to be done between 4:50-5:02/km. Well, let’s just say my legs had other plans. In a surprising turn of events, I clocked in each 800m sprint between 4:05-4:20/km. A stride in the right direction? Absolutely.
The Magic Mile: Testing My Limits

Next on the agenda was the ‘Magic Mile’. Simply put, the goal was to complete a mile as fast as humanly possible. With the adrenaline from the previous run still pumping through my veins, I aimed for a pace of 4:00/km. Admittedly, that was a tad ambitious. However, I did manage to finish with a pace of 4:11/km, tying my personal record for the fastest mile. Needless to say, I’ve already got my sights set on beating that next time.
Running into Sunday: The ‘Run Walk Run’

Finally, to round off the week, I ventured out on Sunday morning for the ‘Run Walk Run’. Nothing quite beats beating the summer heat with an early morning run, right? I managed to cover 10.39km in 53:10, which averaged out to a pace of 5:09/km. It was a comfortable pace – just enough to feel like I was pushing myself, but not so much that I ended up crawling home. A perfect blend of speed and stamina.
Looking Ahead: Gearing up for Greater Distances
As I step into week 3, there’s a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. With a 15km run on the horizon, things are starting to get real. But if the past two weeks have shown me anything, it’s that I’m more than capable of taking on this challenge. So here’s to more miles (kilometres 😉), more achievements, and more unforgettable running experiences.
Join me next week as I share more about my training, my progress, and the inevitable hiccups along the way. Let’s keep moving, one step at a time.
Until then, happy running!
In a good flow! Keep up the track and add some pics!
